Nitrile Surgical Glove

Nitrile surgical gloves are made from synthetic nitrile which is known for its excellent strength and protection against oil-based chemicals. Although nitrile provides excellent barrier protection, surgical gloves are rarely made with 100% nitrile since this synthetic material is less elastic, provides less sensitivity, and is not as comfortable compared to latex. However, some gloves use a mix of nitrile and latex to take advantage of both properties. Nitrile material is typically used in the making certain exam gloves.

Cardinal Health provides surgical gloves that contain nitrile under their Protegrity® line. The Protegrity® surgical gloves have 3 layers where the inner and outer layer is made from latex and the middle layer is made from nitrile.
